THE DEPTH OF GOD'S LOVE

I came home from work tired, then I remembered I needed to prepare something for my son before picking him up from kindergarten, only for him to refuse eating, I was not happy, after all the effort.

But when I was reflecting on it a scripture dropped in my mind, Matthew 7:11, Jesus said, If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him. This mirrors the way God constantly provides for us, even when we don't acknowledge or appreciate it. God, out of His infinite love provides for our needs.

I provided a meal for my child despite being tired, reflecting how God provides for us, even when we might be undeserving or fail to appreciate it. God offers us spiritual nourishment and blessings, but we can be like my toddler, unwilling to receive them. This is like when the Israelites rejected God’s provision in the wilderness. In Psalm 78:22, it says:
"For they did not believe in God or trust in His deliverance."

Sometimes, like my child, we reject the good things God offers us, perhaps because we don’t understand the fullness of His care. Just as a child may not fully understand or appreciate the love and effort of a parent, we may not always recognize the depth of God’s love. The Holy Spirit opens our eyes and softens our hearts to receive what God has for us. In John 16:13, Jesus says: "But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth." The Holy Spirit helps us to trust in God’s care, even when we don’t see or understand the full picture.

Just as you still desire for your child to eat and be nourished, God desires for us to accept and acknoweldge His provision in thanskgving. The Holy Spirit want us to trust in God's plan, even when we don't feel like it.
